Indonesia Wildfires Keep Children Out of School
Чтение
Indonesia is having its worst forest fires in over ten years. A weather event called El Niño has made these fires much worse.
Many of these fires began because people started them on purpose. They cleared land this way to grow crops, like trees for palm oil.
More than 12,000 schools across Indonesia have closed. Thick, unhealthy smoke caused these closures and has also spread to nearby countries.
A school principal has been showing pictures of the fires. He shares these pictures on social media to help people see what is happening.
He feels sad because his students cannot go to school or learn. Many children are getting sick from bad air, which makes him hope for rain very soon.
