Austria Finds Russian False Information Campaign.

Austrian authorities found evidence of a Russian disinformation campaign. This campaign was discovered after they arrested a Bulgarian woman in December who was accused of spying for Russia. The authorities looked at her electronic devices and found information about the operation.

The goal of this campaign was to spread false information about Ukraine in countries where people speak German, especially Austria. The group behind it was formed soon after Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022.

They used the internet to spread their message and also put up stickers and graffiti. They used symbols and statements that made it seem like people who support Ukraine were actually far-right nationalists.

The Bulgarian woman is thought to have been an important part of the operation, acting as a link to Russian intelligence. She admitted that she worked for the group, particularly during 2022.

This is not the first time Austria has dealt with Russian espionage. Last year, a former Austrian intelligence officer was arrested for giving secret information to Russia. He was also suspected of being involved in a plan to break into the apartment of a journalist.
