Sexual Violence Survivors Surge in Congo Crisis

A charity called Save The Children gave some news. They said sexual violence in Congo has gone up a lot. More women and kids were hurt this year than last year.

The charity helped many survivors of sexual violence. From January to July, they helped 2,702 people. Some survivors became pregnant and felt sad, even thinking about dying.

The health ministry also reported more sexual violence cases. About 73,400 cases were reported in Congo. Many of these cases involved young girls under sixteen years old.

There has been a long war in Congo. Fighting got worse in January when rebels took cities. About 3,000 people died in the fighting. This has made a big problem for people who need help.

The United Nations also said similar things about Congo. They said many rape cases involved children. Some countries cut aid, making it harder to help the survivors. They need things like pads and soap.
