Naming Dispute: The Controversy Over Calling it the Gulf of Mexico or the Gulf of America.

The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, is thinking about suing Google. She is upset because Google is calling the Gulf of Mexico the 'Gulf of America' on its maps.

This started when the president of the United States, Donald Trump, said he wanted to change the name. Mexico says it controls much of the Gulf and its real name is the Gulf of Mexico.

Sheinbaum said her government wrote a letter to Google, but the company didn't listen. Google says it changes names on its maps when governments change them officially.

Right now, what Google Maps calls the Gulf depends on where the person looking at the map is. If they are in the United States, it says 'Gulf of America', but in Mexico, it says 'Gulf of Mexico'.

Sheinbaum says the name 'Gulf of Mexico' is very old and is used by the United Nations. She also joked that maybe Google should call the area 'Mexican America' because that's what it was called a long time ago.
