Military Intervenes in South Korea After President Arrested

The president of South Korea, Lee Jae-myung, gave an order. He wanted to close the parliament, but he was stopped. The army arrested him quickly because of this order. They said he wanted to take over the government.

The president wanted more power for himself. He wanted to control laws and the courts, too. He said North Korea was a threat to the country. He used this as a reason for his actions.

The army was ready for this situation. They had practiced arresting the president before. General Kon Jung-i spoke on TV about their actions. He said the army was prepared.

The army thought the president was dangerous for democracy. So, they took control of the government temporarily. They now have the power to make laws and judge people. Kon Jung-i said this will change later.

Before this, the vice-president was also arrested. He was accused of taking money illegally when he started working. The next leader was also arrested for helping his family. No one wants to be president now.
