Legal fights about land owned by Greek Cypriots in the northern part of Cyprus.

The people are accused of illegal things. They include selling land and using it without permission. The land is near the coast. It is in villages popular with foreign buyers.

Land rights are a big problem in Cyprus. The island was split in 1974 when Turkey invaded. Many Greek Cypriots left the north. Turkish Cypriots moved from the south to the north.

Talks to solve the problem have failed. Courts have said Greek Cypriots own the land in the north. But a building boom is happening there. Cyprus wants to stop the illegal use of Greek Cypriot land.

A lawyer said big buildings are being built. This has made foreigners not want to get involved. The cases have made Turkish Cypriot leaders angry. They think it is hurting their economy.
