Russian Hackers Target Europe's Critical Infrastructure

Police in Norway spoke to the media on Wednesday. They think Russian hackers attacked a dam in April. This attack changed how water flowed from the dam. The director of police, Beate Gangås, spoke about cyberattacks. She said these attacks are used to make people scared.

Intelligence officers told the AP that things are worse. They say these attacks are becoming more violent now. Hackers got into the dam's computer in April. They opened a part to let more water out.

A video was put on Telegram in April. The video showed the dam and a Russian group. Police said this is the first time since 2022 they said this. They think Russian hackers attacked important water systems.

Gangås said governments use groups to hack. They want to show they can do things, and they brag after. Gangås said this will happen more in Norway and Europe. She spoke at a meeting about attacks on Norway.
