De Notre Dame brandde op 15 april 2019. Het was een grote ramp, veel was kapot. De toren was ingestort, balken lagen overal en er was veel rook.

De Franse president Macron beloofde dat de Notre Dame herbouwd zou worden. Hij wilde dat het in vijf jaar klaar was, dat was een hele opgave.

Architect Philippe Villeneuve was verantwoordelijk voor de herbouw. Hij was eerst bang dat het niet zou lukken, maar er was hoop.

De glas-in-loodramen, het orgel en de schilderijen waren niet verbrand. Mensen gaven veel geld en steunden de herbouw van de Notre Dame.

Er waren veel problemen tijdens de herbouw, zoals loodvervuiling en corona. Maar Villeneuve werkte hard en nu is de Notre Dame bijna klaar.
