Remembering the Women of WWII: The Story of Dorothea Barron, Signalers, and Mulberry Harbors.

Dorothea Barron helped prepare for D-Day when she was 18 years old. She was part of the Women's Royal Naval Service, also called the Wrens. She worked on a special project called the Mulberry Harbors, which were used to land troops and supplies on the beaches of Normandy.

Dorothea's job was to watch over the soldiers as they practiced with the Mulberry Harbors in Scotland. She used flags to signal for help if anyone got into trouble. She remembers that everyone was focused on stopping the Germans, especially after they bombed England.

Even though she is 99 years old, Dorothea is still very active. She teaches yoga, welcomes visitors to her home, and even has a mechanical horse named Dobin. She is only bothered by her eyesight, which has gotten worse over time.

Dorothea is proud of her service in the Wrens and remembers feeling respected and equal to the men. However, she is still upset about how the women were treated after the war. Once the war was over, the women were told to go home and were not recognized for their hard work.

Dorothea is planning to visit Normandy for the 80th anniversary of D-Day. She is curious to see if any parts of the Mulberry Harbors are still visible. She wants to remember the important role she and others played in defeating the Germans and liberating Europe.
