Sundance Film Festival Moves to Boulder: A New Start for Independent Movies.

The Sundance Film Festival is moving to Boulder, Colorado after being in Park City, Utah for many years. Organizers looked at many cities but chose Boulder because it is a welcoming place that loves art.

Boulder is a small city near mountains with lots of artists and the University of Colorado. Sundance leaders believe Boulder will be a good place for the festival because it is close to nature and has a young, creative population.

Although Boulder is a bit smaller than Park City, it is still expensive to live there. Some people worry about finding hotel rooms during the festival, especially when the university has big events.

Boulder has a history with Sundance as its founder, Robert Redford, went to university there. Redford even worked at a local restaurant called The Sink, which now has a mural of him.

Sundance will have its last festival in Park City in 2026 and then move to Boulder in 2027. While Utah is sad to see the festival leave, Colorado is excited to welcome it and its positive impacts.
