About 200 of these workers fight HIV and other diseases. Some workers test for diseases that spread through sex. Around 150 workers study lead poisoning and help with the lab work.
Lawsuits were filed because of the job losses. Some judges stopped the agencies from firing people. Officials did not say why they fired people at first, or why they rehired them.
A group of CDC workers is still worried about the cuts. They think it will make people get sick and die. The CDC had to bring back employees before too, about 180 people were rehired.
