How to Safely Watch the Upcoming 'Ring of Fire' Solar Eclipse.

A special event called an annular solar eclipse will happen where the moon will cover most of the sun, leaving a bright ring around it. This event will happen on Wednesday and will be visible from some parts of the world like Easter Island, Argentina, and Chile.

A solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes between the sun and the Earth, casting a shadow on Earth. During an annular eclipse, the moon is farther from Earth, so it doesn't completely cover the sun, making it look like a bright ring.

Even though the sun is mostly covered during the eclipse, it is still dangerous to look directly at it. To view the eclipse safely, you need to wear special glasses called solar eclipse glasses that protect your eyes from the sun's harmful rays.

If you don't have special glasses, there are other ways to enjoy the eclipse without looking directly at the sun. You can make a pinhole projector, use a colander, or look at the shadows under a tree.

There will be more partial solar eclipses in the future, with the next ones happening in March and September of next year. A total solar eclipse, where the sun is fully covered, will happen in 2026 and will be visible from parts of Greenland, Iceland, and Spain.
