NASA Van Allen Probe Reenters Pacific Ocean
Чтение
An old NASA satellite fell back to Earth on Wednesday. It reentered over the Pacific Ocean, near the Galapagos Islands.
This satellite was called Van Allen Probe A. Most of it burned up, but some small parts might have survived.
The satellite was launched in 2012 with a twin. They studied Earth's radiation belts for seven years.
Its twin, Van Allen Probe B, is still in space. But this other satellite also does not work now.
NASA thought the satellite would stay in orbit longer. Strong sun activity made it fall much earlier than expected.
