Russia Appoints Cat Ambassador, Makes History

The King of Netherlands met new ambassadors. These ambassadors came from twelve countries. A cat became the Russian ambassador; this was new for everyone. The journalists were very interested in this new ambassador. It was the first time for a cat to be an ambassador.

Maria Zakharova spoke about the cat ambassador. She said there is no rule against cat ambassadors. So, the Netherlands had to accept Felisa. Felisa is the cat's name, according to Russian officials. She is now the ambassador from Russia.

Felisa used to live in another country. This country was not friendly to Russia. But in 2025, Felisa wanted to go back. A diplomat in Moscow took her to his home. He gave her a safe and happy place to live.

The diplomat later got a new job in Africa. He could not take Felisa with him. They needed to find her a new job. So, they decided to make her a diplomat. They thought it was a good way to use her talents.

An assistant to Sergei Lavrov talked about the cat. He said relations are not good with some countries. So, they chose Felisa to be an ambassador. This was a creative solution for the country. Felisa now has an important job.
