Private lander takes first high-definition pictures of a lunar sunset.

A moon lander took pretty pictures of the sunset. The pictures are the first of their kind in high quality. The lander was called Blue Ghost, made by Firefly Aerospace.

Blue Ghost landed on the moon on March 2. It was the first private ship to land well and do its job. It took pictures and got science stuff for five hours before stopping because of no sun power.

NASA's Joel Kearns said the sunset pictures are the first in high quality. Scientists will look at them closely. They want to see if dust made the horizon glow in one photo.

Kearns said the image is pretty and shows strange things. Blue Ghost had 10 science tests for NASA. It was part of NASA's plan to use private ships to deliver things to the moon.

The drill on Blue Ghost could only go 3 feet into the moon. It was supposed to go 10 feet. Firefly will try to turn the lander back on in April, but it might not work.
