TikTok feeds hidden pipeline to OnlyFans

TikTok is reportedly facilitating the normalisation and promotion of the sex industry, a new study reveals. "Sexfluencers" are adeptly using the platform to market their explicit content hosted on external sites like OnlyFans.

Performers ingeniously embed coded references to pornography within seemingly innocuous "girly lifestyle content." They skillfully employ euphemisms, emojis, and suggestive gestures to allude to adult material available elsewhere, bypassing direct links.

A recent study, "TikTok to OnlyFans pipeline," investigated this phenomenon, conducted by campaigning organisations in the UK and Australia. Researchers found creators often portray an aspirational, opulent lifestyle, directly attributing their wealth to earnings from sexual services.

Critics vehemently condemn TikTok, describing it as an "industrial-scale digital pimp funnelling girls into the sex industry." There are growing calls to extend bans on explicit content for minors to include material that merely promotes the sex industry.

Both TikTok and OnlyFans assert strict community guidelines and age verification processes are robustly enforced on their platforms. However, some "sexfluencers" have ironically secured mainstream brand endorsements, leveraging their TikTok visibility despite their other endeavors.
