U.S.birth rates slightly rise in 2024, mainly because of Hispanic women.

U.S. births went up a little in 2024 but experts don't think this means more babies will be born in the future. Birth numbers have been going down for a long time.

There were a little over 3.6 million births in 2024, which is slightly more than in 2023. However, the increase was mainly among Hispanic women.

Experts think this small increase might just be a temporary change and not a sign of a bigger trend. They say more research is needed to understand why birth patterns changed in 2024.

U.S. births have been dropping since around 2008, except for a small rise in 2014 and during the pandemic. In 2023, births were the lowest since 1979.

The age when women have their first baby continues to go up, and in 2024, Hispanic women and white women in their 30s and 40s had more babies. However, experts don't think this will change the long-term trend of fewer babies being born.
